December 23, 1991
Dear Mom,
I've been wanting to write to you for a long time now but I've
simply
been tooooo busy. That's a shame that a person is too busy to
write his
mom a letter, isn't it???? UFF DA.... but That's the fact.
We've been very busy with transfer orders this year, the
Singing
Christmas tree, etc.... but that's all coming to a close now.
It's
11:15 pm and Terry is working on the 'last' order to be finished
before
Christmas. When he gets done with the transfer, I'll add music
onto it.
I plan to do some shopping tomorrow. I have something for
everyone
except Sharon. She is the hardest to buy for. I know she thinks
the
same of me.
I've taken several days of vacation in December and that has
been a big
help. i still have a couple of days left so the balance of the
year
should be restful. I hope so.... The next item at work is to get
out
work appraisals for those that report to me and then to do salary
administration.... (raises). I don't expect the $ to be very big
this
year... we'll see
I am packing an 'after Christmas' box to send to you in Iowa.
I think
you'll find a lot of goodies in it. Tell Lois her cowboy tapes
will be
in there, sorry that I didn't get them back to her sooner, but
they
arrived at the beginning of the peak season for me and I just
haven't
got them all done yet. I made some copies and I sent them to Jim
and to
Marilyn.... the cowboy songs are refreshing and I do hope they
will
enjoy them.
The Singing Christmas tree was a great success this year.
There were 5
performances and each night was packed out 1500+ folks/night.....
75% of
them were visitors. The video turned out beautifully... Look for
a copy
in your Christmas box. This is the first year that two cameras
were used
to do the video and to blend the two camera angles together -- it
looks
great!!!!
I finished 'THE LONG WINTER' book by Laura Ingalls. I'm sure
glad that
Don encouraged me to read them in preparation for our trip to SD
this
summer. I have read Farmer Boy, By the Shores of Silver Lake,
Little
House on the Prarie, and now the Long Winter. I plan to read the
rest
too. I really enjoy them!!!! I'll need to get with Don and see if
he
wants to take another trip this summer. D&L are sure good
travel guides!
It won't be long before Rachel takes driver's ed and gets her
license...
UFF DA. She is not anxious and that's a relief. Insurance rates
will
really go up when she gets her license. The course costs $250 and
lasts
about 3 weeks. This might be her Christmas present.
Aaron pinched his finger in the door a couple of days ago. At
night, he
likes to 'rough house' w/ me before bedtime. He was 'fighting' w/
me and
I had pushed him out of the room... when he tried to get back in,
his
finger got pinched in the door. It's black and blue and sore. I
think
that got some of this vinegar out of him --- I hope so.
Last Sunday we went to my boss's house for a Christmas time
open house.
They have a very nice place.... too nice. It's like one of the
houses
that you see in the magazines.... it wouldn't have lasted 10
minutes if
Philip had lived there (or even visited).... 5 bed room, a living
room,
family room and game room --- 3 1/2 baths, 2 story brick, very
nice.
December 24 -- 9:30am
I've had a customer over already this morning to pick up a
video order,
and I've called two more to set appointments for them to pick
their's
up. Then, that will be all. i need to go and get something for
Sharon
for Christmas..... She got a new car two months ago, that should
be
plenty (and it is BUT it's always nice to have some little thing
to open
under the tree).
I need to write letters to my brothers and sisters too.... UFF
DA!!!
Sharon's bros and sis had their Christams at Al & Irene's
yesterday.
All were their except Sharon and our tribe. They sure would've
had a
house full if we had been there!! Yesterday two gifts were
delivered to
our door, a beautiful evergreen and floral arrangement with
candle (from
Sharon's sister) Sandy and Tom and a ham sent by sister Ann and
husband
Dan. Both look GOOD to me!
We plan a small Christmas this year.... no company, just us. I
plan to
buy oysters for supper stew tonight -- the kids will be mad at
me.
Tomorrow's fare will likely be capon (and/or ham) --- we'll see.
Well I'd like to stay and tell you more but I've got to get
this letter
in the box. I love you and wish that you were here for Christmas.
We'd
go to the farmer's market and get all your favorite stuff. if you
had
any energy left, we'd go to the mall's or the flea market or
looking at
the Christmas lights!! Philip sings "purty lights" and
"happy burtday
JESUUUUSSSS!!!" when he sees the lights and decorations.
Bye for now and have a very Merry Christmas! Keep praying for
me daily,
I appreciate that and take strength and comfort in it.
All our love,
