Dear Mom,

Well it won't be too long before we'll be back home in Iowa. We are
thinking very seriously about taking a trip out to the Black Hills while
we're there. I remember the trips that you and Dad took me on. Remember
our trip to Mt. Rushmore, the Black Hills, and the hydroelectric dam w/
Bernard Spissman? Remember when we went to the Ozarks and 'Shepherd of
the Hills?' and the trip to the Land of Lincoln?? and to Washington D.C.
with Jim and Jean? We went along the 'Skyline Drive' of Appalachia and
drank apple cider and saw the people playing checkers with pop bottle
caps. Lots of fun and lots of memories and I think Aaron and Rachel
(especially) could benefit from a sight seeing trip.

I'd like to talk Don & Lois into going along. We'd take two cars and
that would allow for more visiting and a bit more room for everyone to
sit. We'll plan to rent a car while there. Don thinks that we should
just buy another Bonneville and drive it back to Texas.

Terry Rogers is here tonight working on transferring old home movies to
video. He's not been here much in the last several weeks because some of
my equipment was being repaired in California. It's back now and we have
a lot of work to catch up on.

I had no video to do this weekend. On the last two weekends, I've had
dance recitals to video with DANCE TREE studios. They are very cute and
I will send you a copy of one of the recitals. Sharon goes along w/ me
to sell the copies in the lobby while I do the filming in the
auditorium. We sell 25 - 40 copies in a night at $30 each. The studio
gets a cut and we have to pay for sales tax and postage but it is still
a very profitable evening.... 4 recitals down and 2 to go!

Mary Lee (the lady that you saw do the practice dances is in Tampa
Florida this weekend to put on two recitals. She has a licensee there
who has about 400 students. She wants me to do the recital video there
next year. We'll see... but that sounds like a lot of fun! She also has
a licensee in Norway.. that would be a great trip - wouldn't it??

We went to the AMOCO picnic today. It was OK but we didn't stay for very
long. It was hot and we were tired. We just flopped on the couch and
watched some TV and then we took a nap and then we ate supper and
flopped on the couch again. Sounds pretty lazy doesn't it!!! Oh well,
it's 9p.m. and back took work for me on the video and Sharon is washing
clothes and cleaning the kitchen.

I'm sorry to hear about all the rain that the farmers are getting that
is causing so much trouble w/ the crops and all. Sharon said that her
brother's silo is empty and he can't get into the field to get more
forage. For a while he was milking 3 times per day to try and get more
milk because prices had dropped too low. I understand that he's quit
that now because of the lack of feed. Don has been having a hard time of
it too. I'm sorry to hear about that.

Sharon is glad to be out of school but she still has meetings and so
forth to attend... blah.... The kids are already enjoying summer --
swimming, playing, talking with their friends and all. I'm trying to
have them read more and watch less TV. We'll see.

The garden is blooming and bringing forth many cherry tomatos.
They are SO GOOD and SWEET!! Aaron and trimmed some of the bushes
in the back yard and raked up the old leaves so that the grass
could grow better. We moved the glider bench over to the shaded
area under the maple tree. It's very nice to sit there now and
enjoy the breeze and the shade.

I hear that Philip is 'helping' Sharon with the house work. I'd better
go downstairs now and see what I can do to assist her or get him out of
her hair.

Love you bunches and we'll see you soon.
